Behati has been breaking the norms in traditional costumes and redefining culture through multicultural clothing since 2018. The viral Baju Malayu Oversize and Baju Malayu Pendek put the brand on the map for their bold and provocative designs that merged elements from the different races of Malaysia such as the Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban and Kadazan. The name “BEHATI” which means blessed and sheds light onto the rich culturally inspired background of the brand with its multiracial roots stemming from Kel Wen’s, the founder and designer of the brand, childhood. Through the years, BEHATI has gained more traction through the extensive contributions to the local arts and entertainment industry with its collaborations with local celebrities such as Dato Seri Vida, Aina Abdul, Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza and many more. BEHATI is committed to preserving the local traditional crafts by applying the many techniques of different cultures into their collections in hopes that the modernity of traditional wear is a progressive movement in Malaysia.
